Our Organization
Zambian Relief Organization-ZRO, is a Humanitarian aid, a non-profit making organization based in Zambia in the Sub-Sahara of Africa. It was founded by men and women who shared the common goal of poverty alleviation in rural areas. The organization was first registered under the name Zambian Relief Foundation-ZRF. ZRO Zambian Relief Organization is registered with Ministry of Community Development Mother and child for registration of NGO, under certificate number RNGO 101/1191/2020.
Zambian Relief Organization (ZRO), driven by the theme “A Better Life 4 All” provides a not-for-profit human developmental vehicle for social partners both local and international who are passionate about taking development to the rural areas, and poverty alleviation amongst the vulnerable populations in Zambia.
Although Zambia is endowed with abundant natural resources that can be transformed into meaningful wealth such as minerals, forests, wildlife, water bodies and arable land for Agriculture, the country is still counted amongst the poorest in the world with over 14 million people living on less than $1.9 per day. The great majority of the poor people of Zambia are found in rural areas where the vast majority live in abject poverty with limited access to clean water, adequate health services and education. ZRO endeavors to direct efforts to ensure the necessary relief services are taken to the unreached vulnerable populations.
Digital Literacy & “Educating the Future”
Driven by the realization of not leaving any child behind, Zambian Relief Organization’s programs of action includes not only empowering the glrl child but also carrying along the boy child whose plight has in most cases been ignored. ZRO plans to provide education and empowerment opportunities to both genders. Digital literacy and all its accumulating benefits is amongst ZRO priorities to ensure that the least vulnerable populations in peri-urban and rural communities empowered with appropriate skills including financial literacy. Digital literacy programs will also come with donation of ICT equipment to rural school childreen
The Zambian Relief Organization (ZRO) also aims to supplement the Zambian Government efforts including other concerned NGOs and international agencies to implement programs to mitigate poverty levels and enhance the standard of living of the rural poor through relief programmes. ZRO will endeavor to build linkages with both local and international organization in resource mobilization and implementation of local poverty alleviation programs in Zambia.
